Welcome to Safford Regional Airport
Located 124 nautical air miles southeast of Phoenix Sky Harbor International Airport and 74 nautical air miles northeast of Tucson International Airport, Safford Regional Airport is the gateway to the unparalleled natural beauty and recreational opportunities of Southeastern Arizona.
Originally constructed as a training facility for the U. S. Army Air Force in 1941, and acquired by the City of Safford in 1946, Safford Regional has evolved into a full service facility with two well maintained paved runways, tie downs for transient aircraft, a heliport, twenty-four hour seven day per week fuel service, and many other amenities for business and private pilots.
Runway 12-30, the primary runway, is 6,015 feet in length by 100 feet wide. It has a rated single wheel capacity of 33,000 pounds and instrument rated approaches. The crosswind runway, 8-26, is 4,800 feet in length by 75 feet wide and has a rated single wheel capacity of 23,000 pounds. Safford Unicom at 122.8 MHz is manned 7:30am to 5:30pm Monday through Saturday, and 7:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. on Sunday. The ASOS frequency is 124.175 MHz.
A lighted, 70 foot by 70 foot concrete helipad, together with a 145 foot by 200 foot apron is located just south of the main airport.
Aviation services available at Safford Regional include: sale of 100 LL and Jet-A fuel; aircraft painting and interiors; avionics installation and service; airframe and power plant maintenance and major mechanical repairs; RAM engine rebuilding and conversion; aircraft rental; air charter; flight training. Other services to visitors include shuttle service to area restaurants and motels, a courtesy car for short excursions, and car rentals for extended stays.
